Job Title: Curatorial Assistant (Part Time)
Location: Custom House Museum
The Key West Art & Historical Society is seeking an enthusiastic, well organized individual to join us as a part time (16 hours/week) Curatorial Assistant. Ostensibly, the job sounds ‘glitzy’; however, the main functions of the Curatorial Assistant will be largely administrative. Under the direction of the Curator, the successful candidate will be responsible for all departmental activities including but not limited to maintaining and updating department records; liaising between the curator and members of the public via telephone; scanning documents and other materials relevant to the curatorial department; assisting in the preparation of budget materials by tracking and monitoring budget expenditures; assisting in the maintenance of an active loan schedule; general clerical duties including photocopying, emailing and postal mail.
Qualifications: Ideally, the successful candidate will have obtained a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree and have experience working in a non-profit organization. He/she will be able to demonstrate exceptional computer skills and knowledge of relevant Microsoft software, knowledge of operation of standard office equipment, and knowledge of clerical and administrative procedures and systems such as filing and record keeping. The candidate is required to have excellent communication skills (both written and verbal), a strong attention to detail, accuracy and adaptability. Although not a daily job requirement, the candidate must be able to lift 30lbs unassisted. Prior employment or internships in a nonprofit museum or historic house is a plus.
